Am I missing something on how to take the idle apparatus off or do I have to pull all that other stuff off to be able to unscrew it. I noticed my plunger that is supposed to be sticking out is stuck in

You're not supposed to take that apart!
Hence the reason it had an anti tamper cover that you removed.
You can remove it as a whole assembly, but you'll never be able to get the adjustment right again unless you get lucky and the WSM tells you how, I've personally never seen it documented.
