How much is my Kubota worth?

Long story short, my Father-in-law passed away this past December. He has 75 acres that he raised cattle on and bailed hay. It is right outside of Birmingham, Alabama. We are in the process of selling the farm and equipment. Most pieces have been sold, but I am left with his Kubota tractor, and I have no idea what a fair price would be to ask for this tractor. I was hoping to gather some ideas from this forum. Here are the details:

KUBOTA, M7040HDC-1 with LA1153 loader, bucket, and M1804 Bale Spear.
Purchased new in December 2011 for $40,470.08.
There are 3,385 hours.
It works well, is in good shape, and the only problem is the air conditioner, but you probably knew that. It blows but doesn't cool. My FIL was trying to solve that issue before he passed away.

Do you have any thoughts on what I should ask or a suggested range of prices?

Look at www.tractorhouse.com or www.machinerypete.com to see what folks are ASKING for a similar tractor.

Doesn't give sale prices - just asking prices.

I believe the M7040 is pre-Tier IV emissions. Not 100% sure, but something to look into.

There are folks looking for machines that pre-date the Tier IV emissions.

You might be surprised what it could bring if everything else is in good condition but-for the A/C.

There was a M7040 Cab and loader with 1,800 hours listed last week in south Alabama for $30k. This is at a dealership.

Doesn't give sale prices - just asking prices.

I believe the M7040 is pre-Tier IV emissions. Not 100% sure, but something to look into.

There are folks looking for machines that pre-date the Tier IV emissions.

You might be surprised what it could bring if everything else is in good condition but-for the A/C.

AS RCW mentioned - the pre-Tier IV big tractors are almost worth their weight in GOLD! Almost!

I would start at 30-32k and work my way down if you do not get many hits.

Being a Cab tractor is a good selling point and as mentioned the pre- tier stuff adds up the price.

Place it on Marketplace (Facebook) and you will get idiots to respond - BUT, you will get some that are looking for a good cabbed tractor - be patient and wait for the real person to want to see it.

I have bought and sold $225,000 worth of stuff on MP and CL and met 258 people who I sold to and bought from.........257 were great...........

The A/C could be an easy fix and really help sell the tractor. Mine had an expansion valve take a dump a few years ago.

If you have a manual and a few tools the A/C could possibly be a DIY fix. I borrowed a vacuum pump and fixed mine. It was only around $50-$60 for the valve.

It appears to be classified as an Interim Tier IV tractor.

My memory isn't what it used to be.....

If I recall, Tier IV was phased in over several years. Started with big machines, and worked it's way down to 26+ HP diesels now.

I'm thinking your tractor is "Interim" Tier IV in that it meant Tier IV regs at the time, but doesn't have all the emissions systems/ equipment/ sensors/ diagnostics/ ECM/PCM that a new M-series tractor would have today.

As such, easier to operate and maintain.

Attractive to a lot of buyers.

Interim tier IV, depending on size, may have meant "we allow you to still make this even though it doesn't actually hit the emissions requirements." As you say, it often meant that the more troublesome bits of emissions equipment weren't on them.
