How Much Hydrolic Fluid is enough?

Inherited my 07 MX5000 from an idiot brother in-law who did not maintain it or hold on to the manual. How do I tell if the hydrolic fluid res. has enough fluid in it? I had it serviced 40 hrs. ago, BUT!!!, I am pretty sure all they did was change the filter. Fluid is not detectable when I check the fill opening.
