My BX2380 won’t start. I had started it once 10 days ago by jumping on seat. So I think it is safety switch. After several discussions with parts person at dealership and with service manage, I’v determined switch is in the seat. But I don’t see. a way to access it. Anybody know how?
Thank you!
Since you would like to solve the issue before paying the dealer guy for a visit, here are a couple other thoughts.
First, might it be possible that "jumping on the seat" might have moved the tractor enough so that a different safety interlock switch might have been moved/vibrated enough to close? So are you SURE
without question that your problem is the seat switch?
Second, something you might do, is exercise each function that might have an interlock switch associated with it,
while holding the key in the start position. Directional pedal, PTO lever, Range selector lever...whatever else might be there. Doing this could tell you if a switch other than the seat switch is the culprit, as the tractor might start when you move a lever that is connected to a switch that is not making when it should.
The tractor would not have to start to give you a pointer. All you would need to hear is a momentary movement of the starter when a control lever is moved. This would indicate the switch associated with that function is the issue.
A third thing you could do is, and this is a bit dangerous perhaps, is use a jumper at the starter, to apply 12 volts directly to the starter solenoid terminal, eliminating the safety circuit, thereby verifying that the starter/battery circuit is in normal working order.
Just a couple thoughts. Something I would probably do myself...
