This may be a stupid question, but has anyone ever checked the accuracy of your hour meter? Mine (b2920 with 11 hrs) appeared to me to be off, so I ran it at idle and it took 13:23 to change over 1/10 of an hour? More than twice the expected time! Any thoughts?

OW, maybe the hour meter calibrates it's self to the time zone it's working in and you just have LONG days in Pa.
Actually, I think the engine has to run at like 2000 RPM to read accurate. It more or less measures how hard you work it, not how long it idles.

I looked in my Operator's Manual for L305. It reads, "This meter show the number of hours the tractor has been operated at rated engine rpm."

Thanks for the info D2. Some days seem very long, if you know what I mean. It makes sense now, the hour meter acts more like a tach timer. I've learned something for today!
I have seen some hr meters that run off the engine oil pressure and others that are simply either on or off with the ignition key. I've never really watched mine that close but it seems to be fairly accurate when I'm working.
I know on mine, L3800 it its calibrated by RPMs. There is a cable that runs from the hour meter to the front of the motor on the fuel filter side. The speed the cable turns is in relation to the motor RPMs. I found this out when I was pushing snow last winter and had the metal line snap and had it fixed under warranty at the dealer.
