Hello everyone, I just bought a b7100hst, and it's my first tractor, so as a newbie I have a million questions. I was wondering if the 3 point has down pressure or does it just float. Also, what is the small lever under the seat, it has an arrow that points to the left, any info will be appreciated , thanks

First Welcome to the neighborhood. I think you will find the folks knowledgeable and willing to help.

Second I don't believe your 3pt has down pressure. As far as the lever I am not familiar with your model.

Third We love pictures a lot :D:D:D

Nope your B7100 does not have down pressure, it does just float.
The lever under the seat is a bypass to put a single action remote cylinder on it, you would take the plug out of the side add a supply hose, and pipe a return hose to the tank. ;)

My B7100 HST has that lever under the seat. The hydraulic hose that goes to the loader valve comes from there. Turn the lever one way the 3 point hitch works. Turn the lever the other way, lock the 3 point control in the raise position and the front end loader will work.

All SA cylinders I've seen/operated had only one hose so how does one utilize a return port? My Vermeer disc mower and H&S rake with SA cylinders only have one hose per cyl. respectfully.
Thanks,Jim

You can use a single acting cylinder and the fluid returns back through the same hose. The valve just diverts the fluid from going into the 3 point hitch cylinder. You use the3 point control vale to raise and lower the aux. cylinder. If you want to use double acting cylinders (a front end loader ect). You need to put the 3 point valve into the lift position and hold it there. Then the fluid always flows out the extra port (when the lever is turned that way) it goes through the loader valve, then returns to the fill port on the transmission from the regular tank port on the loader valve.

I think you will find your 3-point has to be manually controlled in all uses. I'm using the term 'manually controlled' instead of 'float' which would be slightly different in application, usually used when speaking of a loader held in one position by equalized hydraulic pressure.

A tractor intended for soil engaging or tillage-type implements, e.g., plow, will have an operator settable 'draft' or depth control---look for an additional handle or lever on the 3-point quadrant control. The plow is designed to always dig deeper and the tractor draft control keeps the implement 'lifted' to a set depth, fighting the implement's natural inclination to dig.

Refer to a web search for 'Ferguson system' for how draft controls came about and upended the industry.

If you use a tillage-type implement you'll need to keep one hand on the 3-point and jiggle it up and down continuously and will have a difficult time maintaining an intended constant depth.

Please post back with your continuing experiences so we can all learn.
