Just got a new to me l1-205 and am curious. Is this a mechanical shuttle shift, where you need to clutch every shift? Or is something not right that I can’t shift fwd/ rev without clutching.
Can operate as is but would like to add snowblower and clutching disengages the pto.

I think it is a standard gear drive transmission that needs to be at a stop and clutch depressed for every gear shift,

Why do you think it is shuttle shift?

I has 4 ranges
As well as 4 gears per range on the column and then on the left side of the column there’s fwd neutral and reverse lever.

I'm pretty sure that is a full mechanical shuttle, you need to clutch on every shift and every shuttle.

i own a L1-225 and can confirm it is a mechanical shuttle shift. Clutch needed with every change of direction or gear. You need to completely stop before shifting.
