I am waiting on my M5660 to be delivered next week. My current John Deere 4600 has Grab Hooks welded on the far left and right top of the bucket. I also have a 7/8" hitch ball welded in the middle of the bucket and that has come in handy over the years. I notice on the threads that the recommendation is to locate the hooks in line with the cylinders/lift arms. Is there a reason to locate the hooks in line with the lift Arms rather than on the far out left and right of the bucket?

Gets your load directly in line with the cylinder, so less change of pulling the cylinders at an angle and distorting any metal.

By moving the location away from the cylinder you add a moment force.
Force(moment)=P(load) x D(perp.distance about point)
More or less you want to try and apply as equal a load to the loaders own lift application point. Putting them further out can induce an additional uneven torque/loading/twist. If you cant place them in line, more inboard would be better than out. The potential for twisting is mitigated through the centering, and with the bucket itself acting as a beam.

Thank you for the explanation. I will weld em on in line with the Lift Arms

Congratulations on your M5660 purchase! There aren't many of us on here that I'm aware of. I took delivery of mine 11.7.20 and have 79 hours on it so far. Love it!

I am excited about getting the tractor home! I think it will do an awesome job. I have noticed that there don't seem to be a lot of threads on the M5660 as well. But hey, we can start some!
