Hey folks, new guy here with a glow plug problem. Not being particular knowledgeable on the glow plug problems, I do know it is suppose to go out when warmed up, but the light stays on all the time, so any help would be appreciated since the cold weather is here..thanks

Hopefully. it's the light circuit. If the glo plugs stay energized much over 45 seconds, they will be toastr

Thanks, what would be the best way to check. Don't want to throw parts at it. Heck, not even sure where the fool glow plug is

Look at the engine. The glow plugs look like spark plugs. Probably all connected together with a metal strap.

Check voltage on the plugs with a multi meter or test light when the glow plug light is on. If you have voltage, you will know the circuit supplying voltage to the glow plugs needs looked at. And as Flip says, the plugs may be toast now.

If you don't have voltage on the glow plugs, but the light is on, the issue is with the indicator light circuitry.

I'm sending you a link for the WSM (aka Service manual) it has all the steps necessary to troubleshoot the glow plug circuit and repair it properly.

Glow system uses coolant temp, a controller, relay, timer and variable plugs - the WSM has tests to see what's going on.
