Hi,

I purchased a Kubota B6000 4WD and seems like the gear box is almost dry. I wonder if just to add oil 90W80 will do or perhaps it would be better to clean the gear box with solvent and after that add the new gear oil.

Any advice is welcome.

Just add more fluid, do not clean it with any solvent! ;)

I bought my B6000 about three years ago and changed the transmission oil straight after buying.

The next trans oil change was 50 hours thereafter when the oil was hot effectively using the first oil fill to flush out any swarf/dirt/water/whatever.

It's not cheap to do that given the B6000 trans holds, from memory, 9 litres but I thought it worthwhile.

When you drain the first fill look carefully for contamination of the oil and act on anything untoward you see.

The B6000 4WD also has three fill points for gear oil on the front axle. Worth checking those too. When I bought my B6000 the front axle was lubricated by a combination of water and dirt. Stripped, cleaned and fixed now.

did not know that the B6000 has 3 points for lubrication. Will check them. Many thanks.
