Its bean in the high 90s here in Michigan. I was mowing today the temperature gage was near top but not out of the white on the gage. The mower shut down engine stopped. I let it cool down for 1 hour it started back up. Could it be the temperature sending unit ?
Thanks

There really isn't anything temp wise that triggers a shut down.

My best guess would be that the stop/run solenoid got hot and failed to supply fuel to the injectors.

Thanks Wolfman I will check it out. Do you recommend to change the solenoid. If that happens again should I check the shut off solenoid with a Ohm meter.

Something else to consider...

My G5200 (previous generation to your G1900) had intermittent issues of running rough for a couple years and eventually just quitting while running. It turned out the electric 'lift pump' which moves fuel from the tank to the engine was getting weak. (Hence starving the engine of fuel)

After replacing that 'lift pump', my D600 engine has not run this well for years.... especially under load like when dragging a driveway-scraper with both rear wheels spinning a bit. (Agri tires on the back!)

That means to me the pump can be pressure tested. Is there a pressure specification available. The last time it shut down I pulled the wire on the heat sensor ( temperature sending unit ) and it started that's why I am leaning toward a bad sending unit. . I bought the G1900 new only has a little over 800 hours on it. But its close to 25 years old

I forget that these have electric fuel pumps, I too say start there and then move on to other things like the stop solenoid if that doesn't fix it.

The pumps on these are low pressure and low flow, makes them hard to measure.
Installing a temporary clear line that you can see while operating it is a good way of telling if there is an issue.

Something else to consider My Dad has a tg1860 Diesel I don't think his actually died but if he was mowing and after 20 min or longer if he shut the pto and engine off it would not restart for about an hour after it had cooled down after a few different parts replaced by the dealer and 2 or 3 trips to the dealer for the same problem it turned out to be the Electric clutch After clutch was replaced no more problem. Just a thought

The electric lift pump on my D600 engine is rated about 2-3 PSI. Just enough pressure to feed the HPFP. I replaced it with an Edelbrock electric fuel pump.

HPFP = High Pressure Fuel Pump

Mine does have a electric fuel pump I call it a lift pump because the fuel tank is lower then the injection pump.
Does any one have a part number for the pump? It has to be rated for diesel. The ones I look at on line seam to have 3-5 pounds of pressure. My engine is a D722. I would like the OEM part number. I always look at the Messik on line parts diagrams just cant find the lift pump
Thanks
