Just bought a L2501 2 days ago. Have 3 hrs on it, fuel tank is less than half full but the fuel gage indicates full. Can't believe it. Found sending unit wire on top of fuel tank, Disconnected it and the fuel gauge goes to 0, So that means the resistance reference is getting to the display but it's not displaying correctly. Is this fuel system a float system. Any help is appreciated otherwise I have to bring it back to the dealer

I ran mine until it it showed almost empty on the gauge. I was confident it would take almost two 5-gallon cans since the capacity is listed as 10 gallons. One can almost filled it up.

I would run it longer until I jumped to any conclusions.

I'm not sure how you know your fuel tank is less than half full. I refill my L2501 when the gauge gets a little below a quarter tank. Five gallons puts it back to reading full. I'm guessing I get about three hours run time per gallon. I don't know if that information is any help or not.

I have a L6060 and have no idea if the full tanks are the same or not however look at your tank and if memory is correct my tank is not a simple shape like a box. If it is an odd shape a float I don't think can give you a 100% accurate gage on how full a tank it. Have filled mine several times in the just over 50 hours have on it but doing so from manual pump with no fuel gage so no idea the exact number of gallons are needed at a certain level of fuel gage.

Did you purchase new? If so, did the dealer fill it up? Did you refill it to see just how many gallons you actually put in? If not, how do you know it is less than half a tank?

I have the same model tractor. Got it a year ago this past April. It would take more than 3 hours of run time to get my tractor to burn through a half tank. Actually it takes quite a while for it to get to half on indicator. Once it shows a quarter it starts dropping quicker but I usually fill it at that point. I normally put in 5-7 gallons of it***8217;s 10 capacity when I refill.
Like someone said, I would work it longer before drawing a firm conclusion.

Along with the others. I can run mine until the gauge reads at empty or below. Put 5 gallons in it and it will read full. Put almost another 5 gallons in it and it reads full for a while. I thought the gauge was broke in mine when I got it, but I think its just due to the sender mounting and tank shape.
