Myself, I always paid for everything in my life, as far as I can remember. I did take the stimulus payments though. LOL.

But this thing with paying off loans for what I can't help but think are deadbeats, turns me off big time.

I think if this would be done, then a payment should also be made to the straight up people, that paid their loans off as they agreed to to begin with. Not that I agree with it, but whatever is done should be fair to those that did the right thing.

I was a pay as you go college student...was fortunate that way. No money from my parents or anyone else...I did get some GI Bill payments which were very helpful, but also gave four years of my life to earn them.

Looks like USD $6.39 today for diesel. Trying to only put enough in for range to exit Californias gas tax.

My wife and I have worked very diligently to pay her student loans off. What bothers me more then the $14k we still own on them is that 1 she doesn't qualify for student debt cancelation, 2 there's people that haven't even tried to pay their loans that are going to be given hundreds of thousands of dollars to cancel them. What about the rest of us? It's total crap!

$4.69 87 octane and $6.49 diesel.

Filled 2-20lb propane tanks at $28. Was pleasantly surprised by that price, but they said prices are going up shortly.

Answer me this, as I was getting fuel the other day I over heard one guy say to his bud ,, that if it keeps going like it is he is going to start using heating oil,,, I know its not far off diesel but I see no advantage if the additives are not there. I mean in the old day I remember uncle john putting almost anything that poured in the tractor and it ran. How much damage would heating fuel do to the new stuff ?

Basically none, home heating oil has to meet (more or less) the same emissions standards as on road fuel. We went through this year's ago on stand by generators, high suffer diesel in t4i engines instead of ulsd, then it seemed a few years went past and the issues went away. I asked one of the fuel companies and was told there was some sort of mandate for hone heating oil and it was basically the same as off road diesel. They specifically filled both up with the same fuel. Any additives were added to the tank when they filled it.

Don't know, but although unlikely, it would do great damage to that guy's pocketbook if discovered by the authorities who check these things on road licensed vehicles...fines are amazingly high...not like a speeding ticket...maybe ten times more...from what I have read.

The fine is applied per gallon.

Well, this was today's price locally. For some reason, they were $.35/gal higher than other stations up the road. I only needed a few gallons so I didn't feel like turning around. I won't be getting gas there again.

Just remember that you can never trust a company with "double-cross" in their name. I should know, I used to work for them. 😆

Picked up diesel in Upper Sandusky Ohio on way back / from Ohio in Ashtabula / Conneaut area today for $5.59. 87 unleaded ranged from $4.09 - $4.29 across most of the state. As usual after the fill up on the F-250, she burped like Homer Simpson and I swear I saw pigs fly out the exhaust pipe. We even saw a horse and buggy (Amish I assume) and had a jerry can on the back - that really is true….maybe they are stocking up too. 😉

Yes, from what I read it is per gallon of CAPACITY, not what you actually might have used. I don't know, but bet there is a multiplier for what you MIGHT have done, rather than what you actually did, even if it was your first time...

Only diesel engines here are the tractors...never on the road...more than maybe five seconds, and that is rare...

Some are quite happy with the current pricing:

DUBAI, United Arab Emirates (AP) — Oil giant Saudi Aramco said Sunday its profits soared more than 80% in the first three months of the year, as the state-backed company cashes in on the volatility in global energy markets and surging oil prices following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

The bumper first-quarter earnings by the firm formally known as the Saudi Arabian Oil Co., which overtook Apple as the world’s most valuable company last week, show a record net income of $39.5 billion, up from $21.7 billion during the same period last year.

The Democratic plan to forgive student loans is clearly the Democratic way of buying off voters for their votes. Politicians don't care where the money is going to come from because they are not the ones that are going to be ponying up the $$$$$ to pay for this fiasco.
Next will be for the government to make mortgage payments when the borrowers become unemployed. The British Government started a "mortgage rescue scheme" a few years ago, and it didn't take very long before they realized that it wasn't working as intended and that it would bankrupt the country. Wales and Scotland are still operating a similar plan. All of these socialist schemes are just smoke and mirrors until the house of cards fails to leave those that didn't avail themselves of the government's generosity to pay the bills.
Nonpolitical post based on facts.

Prior to the pandemic, we were looking at F250. Now I'm glad I didn't buy yet, reconsidering when we do go to buy if I will go with the 7.3L gas or diesel? Considering It will only occasionally tow, the gas engine might be the better way to go. Avoid the diesel price and the DEF price.
Coworker has a dodge diesel with extended tank mounted in the bed. He was really complaining and saying he needed to take a loan out and buy a small car to commute to work.

I told him how he could save $50 per week and not have to take out a car loan. But young kid, set in his ways.

His wife is a stay at home mom. Just runs the kids around a little near the house. Her sport utility gets the same milage as the diesel. But of course it's gas.

I pointed out that driving the wife's car and her using the truck as her runabout would have saved them money, and they wouldn't be looking at another car payment.

But hey..... what do I know??? 🙄🙄🙄🙄

Thats why my diesel is parked until further notice. 18mpg doesn't trump 13mpg when one is $4 something or other and the other is nearly $6 per gallon. Still stupid we should even have to think about it like that.

I suspect that is a symptom…consider most young adults have not received a paper check, balanced the book (I suspect if you are not sure if you are the pin or the cushion then the cognitive ability to balance the book is a real challenge) or written actual checks to pay the bills. Paycheck is auto deposit and bills auto pay…between that and using a card instead of cash some folks don’t realize how fast it’s going out the window. Sort forces people into only looking at the monthly payment and how to make it work without giving up anything…reality is that means debt and potentially no assets to speak of. I am not sure it’s wrong but there has not been an adaptation of the online world / finances to get ahead f the debt. Strange thing is the credit companies love that and will extend them more money than me…sooner or later this house of cards is going to crash and I suspect when interests go up folks will start to lose their homes versus giving up their phones. Grab some popcorn. Shits going to get real if diesel stops being delivered. I would have that was nonsense 2 years ago but I thinking it’s knocking on the door…

Yeah, I tried explaining that to my coworker. The diesel still has 10 months of payments. But wife only drives about 100 miles a week.

It would make sense for her to drive the more expensive vehicle, he drive the less expensive vehicle, and not add an extra payment plus gas. 🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄

I told him that if my wife had worked close to the house, she would be driving my truck. And I would commute in her car.

But since there is only 4 miles difference in our commutes it really doesn't matter.

I've tried to come home with the work truck whenever possible anyway just to cut down on the mileage driven.

In his case, he had to take out a loan to purchase a $3,000 car. 🙄🙄🙄

I did point out that at some point all those minimum payments start to add up.
