Has anyone found an easy solution to not being able to easily access the fuel tank on a B7100?
I have a fixed cab with front/rear vinyl panels snapped on during the winter. It is a serious PITA to take off the panels in the snow pop the hood etc and look. I tried to clean the gas tank so I could look at it for fuel level but it is too opaque. Perhaps someone has done a through the hood fuel door/ lid conversion for this model? A search did not turn anything up.

That is a damn good question ! The site on the tank is useless, I wonder if you had a powerful flashlight could you see through it - even a float would still require a hood flip.

You have to rig up a way that a sending unit could be mounted to an external display........to do that will require to move the fuel filter out too.....

OR do the math on a full tank vs time or hours......

There is some write ups out there on adding an external sight gauge with clear tubing, problem being is that it has to be changed often as it too gets yellowed and hard to see in.

There is a few that have even gone the gauge route, by adding a sending unit.

I found it easier to just get in the habit of fueling up every time I got on the B, that little bugger is a pain when it runs out.

..perhaps a lad might scrounge up a flat rear quarter from a junker car and cut out and weld the fuel filler door over top of the filler cap after cutting a hole in the hood.
Pop the little door, unscrew the cap and have a peek! No hood popping/ undoing cab shrouds to fuel up or check levels
Also a project to screw around with. :D

yup this is the way to go! The Jeep ones are black; just have to
make sure the opening will be big enough to reach in to get at the filler cap.

I don't know why I didn't check for a Kubota Forum before; I've had the machine since 1995.

I have other projects that will need 'input"......

Thanks for the replies!

I put two T fittings, one on the lower fuel line and one on the top fuel return. Run a piece of clear fuel line between them. I wire tie it to the side of the tank strap. I have done this to all 3 of my B7100 tractors. Easy and cheap. I have had one on my tractors for 6 or 7 years now and I can still see the fuel level. Mine do not seam to yellow.

Great ideas here. What i might do with my sight tube is tee the bottom off the fuel line, this way i can replace line without having to drain tank. The gas door is great too, may go with a chrome one. Might check out the local boat/marine supply store. They have all kinds of access doors.
