My M4700 has the paper fuel filter with the plastic sight-bowl and paper filter. It has a shut-off lever which does not work. (The fuel cont'd to flow when I opened it up to clean the filter. Made a mess.)
Anyway, cleaned the filter etc.

But the problem I'm really posting about is that the exit elbow which has a rubber line to connect to the fuel injector pump "swivels" and easily pulls out of the cast aluminum top of the filter assy. It appears to be a "pressed-in" fitment.

Anyone else experience this? How did you fix it? Buy a new assy...only to experience it again?

I'm thinking of clamping off the tank-to-filter line and removing the filter assy, drying it thoroughly, and using JB-Weld to seal up that exit elbow. (I tried a small/thin O-ring and it won't insert and only wads up and doesn't seal.)

Just wanted to start this conversation and see what others have done/experienced.

Mine fell out when it was about 10 degrees and plowing snow.

It could not happen at a convenient time.

I epoxied it in and used it for about 2 years. It was still working.

I just replaced it to make me feel better.

I have had the same problem with a similar water separator. The fittings are a pressed fit. They get to where you can turn them or even pull them out. I have sealed them with JB Weld and it worked fine for a time. The engine vibration breaks the JB loose and the problem returns. Replace the filter unit and the problem goes away long term. Kubota redesigned the filters on the Kx-71. I had replaced several on KX machines. I don't know about your machine but they weren't really expensive.

Jeff and "renthis"... Thanks for your reponses. (Nickelplate, A pic would not really help in any meaningful way... a pressed-in fitting that leaks... looks not pressed-in when pulled out... and leaks look like dripping fuel except when they're only a seep and then they just look wet.... what would you gain by a pic of a leak?)

But if someone wants to see what the part looks like, see item 170 in this link:
https://www.messicks.com/ku/85704?sectionId=222199&diagramId=389144

I think I'll temporarily JBWeld it until Kubota can confirm they've changed the design. Otherwise, it might be easier to simply tap it and thread-in an elbow-fitting like they should have done in the first place. :{

Follow-up: The JB Weld solution seems to work fine 9 months later. (I used electronic cleaner to clean and dry it before applying JB Qwik Weld.)
