Fuel Consumption L series

I'm a fairly tall wide body senior citizen who is just getting too old to be constantly working on my well used tractors. (Ford 640 and JD 301A) I'm considering buying a new Kubota L series with hydrostat transmission and a FEL.

I've got 120 + acres of (somewhat) reclaimed strip mining land in SW Indiana. I presently keep about 3 or 4 acres finish mowed and rough mow another few acres once or twice a year just to keep the brush at bay. In addition, my wife likes me to mow about a mile of trails for her on the back of the property.

Because the finish mowed area isn't horribly flat, I can only use about a 5 foot mower without scalping a lot of high spots. I really can't justify more than a 5 foot rough cut mower.

I would use a FEL for moving snow, dirt, gravel, mulch etc on a fairly infrequent basis. It just would be handy to have one.

I'm guess that about any of the L series would have sufficient horsepower for my needs. The smaller models would save a few dollars on purchase price, but the larger models would seem to be more comfortable for my 6' 350# frame.

Does anyone have any idea about the difference in fuel consumption between the L3200, L3800, and L4600 when used for mowing with a 5' mower?

Are there any other disadvantage to having a larger tractor (other than price) when using 5' cutters?

Are there any other things to consider for a 350# senior who isn't getting amy more agile with age?

For most folks the deciding factor is $$$ money....if money isn't an issue , go with the larger model. I use a L3800 with a 6' bush hog. It runs it fine. I too am 6' with a few less pounds then you but the cockpit has plenty of room for me. Does the drivers seat have more room on the L4600 ? I don't know , but I'd guess it would have. My tractor seems very good on fuel . With twenty hours on it I've bought 15 gallons of fuel , it has fuel in it now, but when the gauge measures empty it will still have three gallons in a ten gallon tank. One thing about consumption , most of the time, the tractor is working and reving ...BUT others will tell you if your 6' tall you'll hate the L3800...and if you were born before 1950 you'll hate the HTS transmission....
So hope this helps...

I'm 6'-4" and just last week made the scale read 274# when I stepped on it. I love my L3200. There's more adjustment for the seat than I need. It is very comfortable to operate and nimble.

I have a 6' Landpride RFM and cover some pretty uneven terrain without scalping. The wheels are not terribly far apart in either direction so the center isn't prone to dragging. The 6 footer more than covers the width of my tractor with the R4 tires.

EDIT TO ADD: I don't have an accurate idea of fuel consumption. If I had to guess I'd say something less than a gallon per hour

I'm 6ft4 318lbs and I crawled around on both the L3800 and L4600 and found myself to be a bit more comfy on the L46 the the L38. With the L38 to me it felt like my legs kept bumping and rubbing into vital arms and levers. I noticed my right leg was kinda in the way of the 3pt lever on the L38. I jumped over to the L46 and noticed tons more room in the drivers seat.

My advise is go play on all of them and pick the one that feels right for you. Everybody is different.

I'm another 6'4" 300lb senior, and I love my L3200. It has plenty of room, and plenty of power for anything I might do with 10 acres. Fuel consumption when working (540 PTO rpm) is about 3/4 gallon per hour. I moved up to the L3200 from a L185 that I had for about 35 years. My PTO hp has doubled, but so has my fuel consumption - probably more than doubled. Since I'm not usually "working" the tractor I notice the more frequent refills, mostly just from putzing around.
If I had 120 acres, I'd think about the L4600. Bigger tires, wider stance, more weight. Then I'd wonder why I was using ALL THAT TRACTOR to run my 5' brush hog and 40" tiller...

Sorry I can't help on the fuel use thing, but wile I am neither tall or really heavy, I have some mobility issues and found the tilt steering wheel and flat platform as well as space on the Grand L much easier to use and more comfortable for me.

I actually went to the dealer to buy a standard L; very good tractor the GL just worked better for me.
