front axle leak

My 2006 BX1850DX has an increasing leak at center front axle where it attaches to tractor frame. From a diagram I see a seal assembly fore and aft. From that I see a fill plug for adding fluid.

My question: is that front assembly independently lubricated and not connected to main transmission?

Pouring this expensive Kubota seems useless and I am considering a heavier differential type.

I'm not a BX expert but I'm fairly certain that the fluid for the front axle is separate from the transmission fluid. Its also possible that the front axle uses a gear oil rather than SUDT2 so check your manual to confirm.

AS Je1279 mentioned ..... two separate fluid reservoirs.

You have a picture you could upload and have us look at?

SO what you are saying is that it is leaking at part 010? where it goes through 070, 060, 050

080 is your fill plug

Now a cheap fix - and not really a fix, but will slow the leak down a bit - if you have UDT or S-UDT2 in the axle - switch out to the 80w90 gear oil - a little thicker, and in your warm climate will be fine!

This is pretty common, I had the same leak on my BX2200. Replace the center shaft(10) along with the backups(70), seals(60) and bushings(50) on both ends. There is also a procedure in the manual for the proper torque due to this being the pivot point for the front end.

I have a similar problem. I am presuming that using loader to lift heavy things like logs has created stress along the pivot shaft and seals, resulting in failure. Anything I should know about removing/reinstalling the shaft and replacing seals?

I'm thinking jack up front to take weight off front wheels, undo cotter pin and castle nut, and then what? Do you tap out the pivot shaft or can you pull it aft? Seems like power steering might get in the way otherwise. Is there a procedure for this in service or shop manual?
