Had it home for a week or so, just left it on the trailer.

The man had it advertised on CL last Fall. I called and talked to him and asked for more pictures. He said he'd have his daughter send them, which I never received. But I had a copy of the ad and his phone number so I started over about 3 weeks ago.

He had told me last Fall it was 6'. When I got there it was 5'. I bought it anyway. I felt sorry for the man. He's 82 yr. old mayor of the town with no employees, does most of the mowing and other city work by himself and some volunteers. Population is like 54 folks.

He was at an auction he had taken a piece of city equipment to sell and wanted to stay around and watch it sell. That's where he bought the flail mower thinking it was a rototiller. Never used it when he got home, just put it up for sale!

It's actually a pretty nice, well taken care of mower.

Skeets, I had asked the man what is bottom dollar was last Fall. It was about 70 miles down to his location, but it was nice country driving with no obnoxious traffic. So when I got there I was somewhat disappointed with it being 5' wide, but I gave him his price without further negotiations, $400.

It just make for more decisions...which mower to use for this job?

Good Lord,, you couldnt find one like around here for that!! I have seen junkers, and I mean needing hammers and drive shaft couplers needed to be welded and so on. I mean I wouldnt give 20 bucks for them on a bet, and they went for way more than that!!

You think it's bad where you are- it would be $2500+ out here, if you could find one. I had hoped to hunt for more implements at back east prices this past year, but our two trips eastward both got preempted.:(
