Hi All-
I went to replace the gearcase (transmission/diff) oil in my L260 (it has separate gearcase and hydraulic system). The manual says 18Liters of 80 weight gear oil (4 gallons).
Now it gets weird.... I put the tractor up on ramps, level, and put a 5 gallon pail w/funnel under it to catch the old oil, open the drain and out pours 7-8 gallons of oil. Clearly this is not good when one has a 5 gallon bucket there to catch it.
My shop now looks like the Exxon Valdez went aground in there! The "oil" that came out was opaque tan to light brown color, almost creamy looking) This tractor is "new" to me and I didn't look at the gearcase dipstick before draining.
Anyhow, I clean up and put in 4 gallons of new 80-w90 gear oil in and it is right on the mark on the dipstick and looks good. I take her out for a spin and the new oil is all foamed up and covering the dipstick. I worked it for a couple hours the next day and the foaming is even worse.
Any ideas what is going on?
