We bought 2 acres here in San Tan Valley, AZ, and have a house going up. Land is cleared, but I have to spread 60 to 80 tons of granite. I'm 70 with two knees needing replacement. After a lot of on line research, driving various Kubota, JDS, and MRS, and talking with others, I want a Kubota. I've had two IHS and one Simplicity garden tractors over the years, and while they were OK for mowing three acres, they would not suffice for what I need now.
No lawn, but I'd like to build an rc car track, some driveways, do some grading and maintenance. I think a bx2670 with a fel and box grader would do it, but the I drove a b2650. Looking at that with a 60 inch fel and a 60 inch box grader. Probably my last tractor.
Thoughts?

Yes, a BX will do it, I have two, but for your situation, I'd buy the B2650 hands down.

I recently bought a B2320 after looking at both the L and the BX series tractors.
With the box blade and fel I can do just about everything I need on my 5 acres.
You can add a mower if you need but is seems like a garden tractor will take care of those needs. Shop around, Kubota still has the 0% 84 mo deal on tractors.

Any BX including the 1870 will have zero problems getting done what you need. The B obviously would be great as well but the question is will it do anything that the BX won't do and based on your wish list I'd say no. Save the $$$.

I was in the same position 3 years ago when I was shopping between a JD, BX 1860/BX25 and B series. I heard from everyone to get one bigger than you think you need and here I am 300hrs later on my "little" BX1860, still confident I made the right choice.

both the B and BX will spread your granite just fine. But I wonder if the B will be too big for the work on an RC track. Most of them that I've seen over the years have tight turns and transitions that the B might be too big for.

With the B2650, you will get a much smoother ride, more comfortable operator platform, tilt steering etc. as well as a position control 3PH.

The only reason I have SCUTs over Bs is I have several tractors for heavier work and I use my SCUTs mostly for mowing.

At my point in life, money is less important than picking the best machine for the tasks at hand. For those who finance, monthly payments aren't going to be all that much different. I pay cash, so while it hurts worse initially, it doesn't last as long.:)

Thanks again for your thoughts. The rc race track will be an oval about six to eight feet wide, just dirt. Not sure how long it will be. It'll have a platform in the middle for operators to stand on and turn to face the car at all times. Maybe some plastic pipe or some other material for sides of the track. Plan to build some jumps and washboard areas.
Spreading the gravel will be a chore, so I figure the bigger fel and tractor will help.

The BX will do everything you want to do, the B will too, but at a bigger price tag.

Shepbear, I'd follow TripleR's advise. Go for the smoother ride, tilt steering, and better 3 point hitch control. You're at the point in life you need to enjoy your decisions.

Concerned about spending your kid's inheritance? NO...it's yours. It's only theirs after you're done and assign it to them!! Enjoy life.

As acknowledged, yes a BX will do it, BUT for a 70 year old man, (I'm 69) with knee replacements on the property mentioned, a B2650 will, in my opinion, be the hands down best choice.

Things you get with a B2650 you don't with a BX:

1. 3-range transmission.
2. Tilt steering.
3. Steering brakes.
4. Telescoping stabilizer bars.
5. Telescoping lower link ends.
6. Dual pump hydraulics.
7. Position control 3PH.
8. 14.6" ground clearance.
9. Mounting step. Yes, some of us older guys have problems mounting dismounting a BX with the deck removed, tere are numerous threds on this with add on steps.

I'll echo what D2Cat said, spend it and enjoy life, I certainly intend to..

One other question. Quick attach or pin for the fel? I really do not see taking the fel off very much.

Quick attach to be safe. The list of things I didn't think I'd ever "need", but have now is embarrassingly long.

I was with TripleR, and D2Cat said it all very well supporting TripleR.

If you're not mowing, and need to move dirt, go bigger than smaller if you can afford it.

My one question is RC track? What size track are you looking at? Love to see a picture of two of one of those vehicles, or what a track looks like!

Best wishes in your search!
