Got it. The adjustment screw for steering play was WAY wrong. To get the play out took the screw way down below the locknut. This is why the unit was on Amazon for the cheap? So I'm inside the 30 days and it's going back.

Garbage and manure coming from Amazon, even from a seemingly good vendor. But they have to dump it somewhere?

It's sad that they can't make a simple part like a manual steering box.

Send a PM to @Mountainman and see if he has a good box for you.

I do have a couple good steering boxes for b7100 gear drive.

It is unfortunate they cannot seem to get these aftermarket steering gearboxes right. There is a good market for them. But i get lots of people try them because they are cheaper than a used oem box only for them to come back and get a good used box.

Each time I tried to write a negative review the Amazon website malfunctioned and deleted everything I tr
Thank you sir
Yes, @Mountainman , I will be in contact when I determine which way to proceed. I see that Kumar (who supplied this item) also has parts kits for rebuilding the original steering gear but you can imagine how much trust I have in them now. Especially when I haven't been successful by phone and their email is broken. I suppose its a good thing it was an Amazon purchase and not direct.

There is a Kubota dealer an hour away so I'm thinking about a visit to price out the OEM gears and seals. The shafts/bushings are seemingly in usable condition. Overall it's not a terrible thing as I don't often roll in 3rd gear at full throttle. I don't work that fast anymore ;)

But nice, tight steering is such a operational blessing. Ironically the rod ends and 'pitman' are reasonably good except the rubbers are checked. If I could be sure to source OEM replacements I'd just fix it. @North Idaho Wolfman : pretty please, could you zoom out on the exploded view in post #19 to include the stem and the part numbers?

Appreciate y'all. Next up: when to do the repair? The ol machine is just as important in the winter as the summer. There is no good downtime. The B7100 goes places and does things that Big Bertha can't get to or safely.

Most of the internal parts are obsolete from kubota, that's the reason the aftermarket game is so big.

You can see all the parts and numbers here:
If you can't find the right parts let me know and I'll point them out.

#3, 66811-41200, Comp, Nut Ball;
#5, H6680-41150, Shaft, Sector

For #3, I need two each - one for the tractor and, according to the wife, my Nut Ball is missing so I need a replacement. All my parts are obsolete too.
