I have 2 F2560 mowers, one since about 2004. In 2022 I acquired a 2007 one (I think the last year they were made). It had 500 hrs and was spotless. I decided to acquire a F5210B snowblower for it, which proved more daunting than I imagined. I finally stumbled unto a new one, which had only been taken out of the crate last winter. Paint was hardly scratched on it.
I have never ran one of the F’s in winter, but am finding it finicky in the cold. I talked to the dealer I bought it from, he said the people in his area all run straight #1. My local dealer says they have never had any issues and run nothing but #2. Hmmmmm. Today I put 3 gals of #1 in approx 5 gals of #2. And that didn’t help. The book says under 14 degrees use #1 and I may end up doing that. But I have a very long history with diesel engines, and have never ran straight #1 in anything, including my 955 JD. Am I missing something? Or are these by nature very touchy for fuel flow. It’s not a very big fuel pump, and two little inline filters. No I have not changed filters yet, I first want to if I just end up with new plugged filters. Thanks for any ideas.
