I recently inherited a 1988 F2000 front mower. It runs good and cuts great. The problem is that when operating - I let off either the forward or reverse pedal and the mower keeps going. The pedal stays down or slowly creeps back up. I am able to still mow by just tap lightly on the opposite pedal to bring the stuck pedal back up.

The pedals feel tight. I have lubricated everything I can get to that is tied to the pedal linkage. There is a spring and rocker type thing that feels tight that is next to the HST. Not sure how tight it should feel. I attached some pictures. it looks like the rocker is pushing to one side and has worn the edge. Also the spring feels tight but may need to be tighter or adjusted.

Any ideas?

Just a suggestion looking at the pics. The lower pivot on your arm contains a fiber bushing that is probably gunked up. They are available from Kubota for around $5.00. The eccentric action is where the neutral is adjusted. I have removed a couple of those bushings that were deteriorated either by heat or some incompatable chemical. The part number should be 66204-43572.

A good cleaning would be a good idea too. I had the same issue and cleaning the gunk and dirt out with compressed air did the trick.

Welcome. When I saw your moniker and location, it becomes obvious you know Gus!

I don't know anything about your mower. Stay tuned because you have already received the answer, or you will soon!

This forum has many knowledgeable folks. The important part of it all is you don't have to wait until the breads moldy to get an answer!

Thanks for the responses. I cleaned out the area and tightened the spring as much as I could. That helped. I know I will probably have to go in and replace the bushing and spring as well as the other small parts there to get a long term fix.

Is there a good way to get to these parts without major dis-assembly of the frame? It looks like I would need to basically split the mower in half to get to the speed change controls and replace parts.
