My cousin and I inspected our L3940 HST yesterday after noticing a lack of speed and noticed that the ebrake cable wasn't disengaging properly. Any suggestions before I start to mess around with it?

If my memory serves correctly. The park brake is a latch type mechanical lock! To release it you kick the brake pedals. If it's hanging up then I would remove the brake rod clevis pin and manually operate the brake to see if one or both lever pivot are sticking.

Yeah. You push the brake pedal down as far as possible which allows the ebrake to be pulled up and locked. I think the issue is it's sticking somewhere. Going to hit it with some penetrating oil tomorrow. That diagram is hard to understand

My brake was hanging up on one side, for a week or so i lubed pivot points and where it entered housing. Has been fine since.
Your hst pedal may also need adjustment due to wear.

Most likely the cause of the brake sticking is a rusted cable (#9).

EDIT ADD: Looking it over again, I could see there being an issue with the cross tube that connects the right and left brake linkages to the parking brake cable, make sure it free and lubed up good.
