Do the smaller engines use DPF/DEF now?

We are considering buying a Kubota U35-4 mini excavator for use around our forest land (personal use).

I really would rather not have the DPF/DEF stuff and I see that the U35-4 has a 24.8hp diesel. Is this engine small enough that it is tier 4 complaint without needing the extra stuff?

This would be a 2017 machine.

I could be wrong but I think anything under 30hp is exempt, though your dealer will tell you for sure

That model does not have dpf etc but the U55 at 47 hp does.

Nothing under 26hp will currently have a DPF. It is still labeled TierIV, its just compliant through fuel tweeks.
