Do I need a tilt trailer?

I have an opportunity to buy a new trailer with a drop down gate in the back but it does not tilt. I have a B 7100 with a 60 inch belly mower. Will I be able to drive that up on the trailer with the belly mower attached or will it catch? I'm fairly new to tractors and trailers so I appreciate the advice. Thanks

KC,

you should be fine - I have two trailers, and two B7100s - AND have d-rings in the path of the MMM - mine will graze the d-rings but nothing else.

one thing - you may need to place in 4wd drive to get up expanded metal gate.

Loading and unloading can be be tricky, where and how the trailer sits is a part of the puzzle too. If you can find a place that allows the trailer tires to dip into a low lying area, it will flatten out the ramp too. Not always possible but it helps!;):)

On my standard 16' landscape trailer the blade bolts of my zero turn would catch on the crest. I screwed some 2"x8" short sections of lumber to the deck so that the front wheels get lifted at just the right place. The other option is to put a long 4x4 under the end of the ramp, but that is a pain.
I can't trailer my new tractor with this trailer, so I am deciding on options. I am leaning towards the slide out heavy ramps, or a tilt trailer.

The answer will be determined by the length of the drop down gate. As mentioned, you can change the angle sometimes by how you have the truck and trailer set before starting to load.

If the trailer is everything you need except the loading problem, you could have a shop (or yourself) add some length to the gate to give the angle you need.

Even just a piece of 2x4 under the back end of those ramps will make big diffetence in angle.

I really appreciate the advice. My wife's John Deere X324 went on with a minimal scrape. Just picked up the B7100 tonight in a soaking rain. The only trouble I had was that, in driving on too slow, the turf tires were spinning. Other than more momentum all I had to do was pull up the deck vent or whatever that's called. I will say this, the SUV we drive was really low. Scary low...
