A little back ground first. I'm lucky enough to have a 7 acre parcel of land that my parents left to me that I built my cottage on which is now my home. Probably been 15 years or so since we drove the first nail. When I first started I thought I'd be only getting here by boat since the small piece of land is surrounded by water on 3 sides with 400 acres of crown land on the other side which has the only logging road that runs close to my property. Well I fought for over 2 years trying to get an easement to use the road and finally won the battle which I now maintain at my own expense. When I first got here I started looking after the crown land as if it were my own. Many people used the small beach that is on the crown land, most good however some not so much. Monday mornings I always do a clean up (garbage day) on the main road picking up any garbage people throw out their car windows and I also clean up the beach and road into my place. It's a good opportunity to take my dogs for a drive on the bike. Well when I first started it would be normal to pick up as much as 4 to 5 bags of garbage most of it being on the beach. I should add first off sorry about being so long winded. Well being a short guy it's funny I haven't been beat up many time for getting in people's faces but when I feel I'm right I'm 6'6 in my own mind. Well after so many years of being in their face and being kind to most the littering has all but stopped until a few weeks ago. I was in my boat fishing and when I got to the beach I saw 2 women and a couple kids who started talking to me so I shut down the boat motor and had a chat. This is when one of the ladies informed me that they were from the micmac First Nation and that they were claiming the land as their own but assured me that they were very clean none drinking people. Well 2 weeks later I found out different. To my relief DNR is making a stand and kicking them off the beach. Once again I'm very sorry about being so long winded but here is how the beach looked after only 2 weeks. Very disturbing to a guy who is more than a bit OCD about keeping everything clean. Sorry just felt like I needed to vent.
