I recently changed oil in my M5700. The dip stick is not clear. It doesn't have a designated full or add mark. What I see are two lines about 2" apart . I put 8.5 quarts (which is the max it's supposed to hold) into the tractor put it only reads right above the bottom line. I'm assuming the bottom line is the full mark? Kind of strange.

"assuming the bottom line is the full mark" ???
Nope: I would think top line to be the full mark.
Must take more than 8.5 quarts to be full, or .....
If you have not owned the M5700 since new, perhaps someone replaced the dipstick.

The written manual measurements are never right.
Go by the dipstick!

No, the bottom line is the "add" mark. The top line is the "full" mark. Same as any dipstick I've ever seen in my life.

I had the same issue on my M5660. Sorry, but 2" between full and add isn't right. Pour in the correct amount of oil as specified in the owners manual and create a new full mark.

I poured in 8.5 quarts like the manual stated. I own a M6800 and L4200 and I don’t have that issue if I pour in the amount the manual states. I may need to do what you suggested. I’m going to give it a good look tomorrow and see if it looks like the original dip stick.

I was told recently with regards to my Honda car transmission oil dipstick that it would read properly only when hot. Maybe your situation is similar. Good luck.

THAT is appropriate for transmission fluid, but NOT for engine oil.

Is there any info out there indicating that the manual might be wrong?
Kubota manuals have been known to have some errors.

The dipstick has been covered pretty well. Keep in mind the loader/3point should be kept in a consistent position. For example, you can make the level change pretty significantly if you measured with the loader down then with the loader up. Suggestion is always measure with implements on the ground. The cylinders have pushed the majority of fluid back to tank. This gives the hydraulic dipstick the most accurate measurement from an factory fill perspective. Also some have a possible air pocket in the dipstick tube. Technique is pull, wipe, and dip once more for the most accurate mark.
