David Lindley was an amazing Guitar player for Jackson Browne. This is hilarious. Listen from the beginning.

Go ahead and try it. Let us know if you can see venus through your anus.
Well, I had to accept the challenge. Found out that I have a cavity!
I must have gone too far with the scope...

... and back feed into the grid with electricians working on it during a power cut ...
For the most part, just another old wives tale. Imagine sending current thru your house wiring and 15 amp breaker and powering up the transformer and the whole block with the 15 amp breaker not tripping. Yes, there can be exceptions so it shouldn't be done but mostly nonsense.

Depends on how many houses are connected through the transformer. In my case it's only two, so quite possible to fry an electrician when not isolating the grid from the generator.

I will respectfully disagree with you.

I can tell you with 1000% certainty it's nowhere near nonsense or an old wives tale!!!!!
Having worked as a commercial electrician you learn what can happen in this exact scenario

You can seriously injure or KILL someone working on any of the power network by back feeding a transformer, and yes it can be done with a simple 110V 15 amp backfeed.
Will it work every time in every circumstances, no, but it only takes one circumstance for it to be tragic.

I could break it down for you on why it won't even trip a breaking doing so, but I don't have the time.
Look it up, plenty of reputable power companies have videos that explain how it's possible, and why it's so incredibly important not to do it.

It is 100% false. It is not possible for your improperly connected backfeeding generator to injure or kill a lineman, it can only provide an opportunity for them toiinjure of kill themselves by not following their mandatory safety procedures.

While the odds of killing someone with backfeeding is extremely low, it is possible. Nothing is 100% "safe" when generating electricity. My solar panel "business" (I have a selling to the grid contract) has 10kW of synchronized inverters, and they should NOT feed power to the grid if they don't see an incoming AC signal. But, I just do not trust "should not" as a guarantee. For that reason I even have a special insurance rider for liability on feeding the grid, should something go wrong with all this technology. For only $40 a year, which is deductible, I'm covered against something going wrong with my equipment and it accidentally sends voltage into the grid and hurts someone...
Wolfman is correct, you can never be 100% sure your setup won't feed power into the grid when it is not supposed to, unless you have a total disconnect of course. Even then, human error can bypass that safety feature.
