Hello,

Any suggestions on repowering a Bobcat MT55 mini skid steer that came factory with a D902?

I'm not opposed to the 902, just want to know what my options are.

I acquired the machine knowing that the rear main bearing had spun.

After further inspection, the skirt on #3 piston is severely scored to the point of pulling material off the skirt.

So, turn crank, bore block, new pistons, rings, etc. $$$$

Looking for a deal (of course) on reman'd or new motor.

I don't know my 'Botas well 'Nuff to know if the D902 is my only option or ???

Does anyone know if Surplus Center still sells engines?

I had never heard of SC, but picked up the name off of another posting here. Checked the SC site, but no Kubotas at all.

Any direction is appreciated.

Thx

Jim

The Kubota D902 delivers the highest output within the Kubota Super Mini Series engines. By expanding the bore and stroke, Kubota increased engine displacement, while maintaining the same footprint as the D722 engine. With a shallow oil pan, the engine height is lower than the D722 engine.

So no there is no other suitable swap, your at the highest end of things.

Any thoughts on putting a D1105 in the spot of the 902?
First thought... Sound like fun... More HP!!!!
Second thought... It's going to take some serious re-engineering!

I wouldn't call them close, but with a sedge hammer, cutting torch, and a welder anything is possible!;)
Your going to have to make sure you can get .94" wider, 2.39" taller, 1.2" longer, and for the killer .8" bigger flywheel, which will mean you will probably need a different bell housing and pump mount that matches the D1105, but they give you the bolt pattern and sizes of the D1105 so you will be able to check that off of your D902 and see how close it is.
