When I look at pistons it says serial numbers for reference but I’m assuming it’s different pistons where do I find the serial number for the engine I need to know what size it needs to be bored too idk if the pistons or 20 or 25 over
Would be my luck block is already at the machine shop anyone’s eyes good enough to see the rest of the numbersusually on the block under the injection pump. There is a machined surface, under and to the right of the pump, that has the engine number stamped into it. Often it's not easy to find, so look real closely. It should say something like "D902E-28873" or something. Everything after the dash is the serial number.
Size is something the shop can and should measure. Thanks for you help anyway I’m hoping to get the correct size pistons the first go round
And see the serial number?Size is something the shop can and should measure.

What does the serial number tell you that size does not? Are there different pistons of the same size? And see the serial number?
I don't know, but here's from the OP:What does the serial number tell you that size does not? Are there different pistons of the same size?

The OPs comment was confusing because its associating oversize with serial number. Messicks part page is evrn more confusing.I don't know, but here's from the OP:

The Kubota site is much clearer. There are three serial number breaks for the piston. Within each serial number break you have options for STD, .20, and .25 oversize pistons.
So the OP needs to know the block serial number AND what oversize if any for the block.
Dan
Yes messicks is where I got confused so what your saying doesn’t matter the serial number they are all either .20 or .25 over that’s what the machine shop wanted to know so if it need boring they knew what size and the serial numbers and pistons confused meThe OPs comment was confusing because its associating oversize with serial number. I believe that to be the case.Yes messicks is where I got confused so what your saying doesn’t matter the serial number they are all either .20 or .25 over that’s what the machine shop wanted to know so if it need boring they knew what size and the serial numbers and pistons confused me
I believe that to be the case.
One thing I have recently learned is Messick's pages are not always the same as Kubota's and sometimes Messick's is just plain wrong.

Mind posting the link for kubota?I believe that to be the case.

I mainly use the search by model input box at the bottom of the pageMind posting the link for kubota?
In this case yes, as there are different style of pistons. What does the serial number tell you that size does not? Are there different pistons of the same size?
