Hello everyone,

I may start by apologize for my English, I'm from Sweden so have mercy :)
I don't own a Kubota machine, but I have a Holder C20 with a Kubota D850 3 cylinder in it.

I have a problem with the generator, it does not charge. I took it apart and it looks brand new inside, it must have been replaced not long ago.
Is there any way I can meassure it and see if it's broken?
I have swapped the voltage regulator, the one that was on the tractor was a Nippon Denso 026000-2121, the dealer did not have that one at home, but he had another one that looked the same, same Contact and colors on the Cables, but the number where different. He thought it was because the new one was electrical and my old one was mechanical.
(oh, one thing that was variant on the new one, is that it had one lonely Cable along with the regulat Contact, that I dont have anywhere to put, dont know what thats for?)

After I change this it still wont charge, the only thing that happened was that the battery check light didt go on now, it was on all the time Before the swap, but still no charging.

Do you guys have any ideas of where to begin the troubleshooting?
Thank you in advanced!

I had one of these that looked great on the inside except for one little spot of corrosion on the winding that eventually broke in two and made a open circuit inside the generator. You can test this by test continuity across the winding with a multi-meter set to ohms. If it is good the reading should be very low. If it is infinity then there is a break in the wire and the winding needs replaced.

Please post a picture of the gen and regulator and note how many wires or terminals are on each.

Thank you for your quick answers, I have som Pictures further down.
You can see my new regulator, it's the one that's mounted and with a loose wire along with the Contact, and also a pic of the old one.
(Maybe the loose Cable is ground, havent tried that?)
Also a pic of the generator, the generator has Three Cables in the Contact, and two Cables from the.. bolt (dont know the name, but you know what I mean).
The regulators have both 6 Cables from the Contact, but the new one has also a loose one thats fitted with a black/White Cable in the Contact.

I have also a pdf of the wiring, but it is in low res so its hard to see anything from it, I attach that one too.

Don't really understand whats happening between the voltage regulator and the gen, if the gen spins, shouldnt I have Power on the bolt? If the gen is not broken of course.

Kind of hard to explain, they just have different inputs and outputs.
One is for a self igniting alternator (the new one you have gotten) and the other is not (your old one).

Hi again guys...
Got my new voltreg yesterday, plugged it in and fired it up. Didnt find my multimeter so I just took an regular "pen" with leds, it said "charging good" or something like that (it was in the 14v area)

Now in the morning I went out to the garage to move the tractor, and the battery was dead. Put the charger on but it wouldnt take any charge, so I took another battery and cables and started it.
I found my multimeter and meassured again, it said 13,5v and was slowly going down, I stopped at 12,3 so it was still sinking.

Do I need to do something with the loose wire North Idaho Wolfman?

Found this a bit strange, when I had 14v yesterday.
Can the new voltreg suck out the battery, do I need to put in a main switch to cut the Power when I'm not using it?

Got the battery charger to start charging now (guess the battery was too empty) so I will fill it up and then start the tractor again and see how much it charges...

No need to do anything with the extra wire, it's just a repeat of what you already have in the original wiring (it's an option to make it work in several different situations or applications).

A bad battery will drain itself if it has shorted plates. :(

A "dead battery" will not charge, even with a good charging system.
Take the battery out charge it on a slow charge for 24 hours then take it to an auto parts store or the place that sells Auto batteries (every country is different) have the battery load tested. ;)
