I see mention of an optional Cruise Control on my G2160. No mention of how it works or the breakdown of parts etc. I am a little interested as I noticed when I am pulling my sprayer going up hill the machine slows considerably. I don't think it caused me any issues but I would like to perhaps be able to set a speed and have the machine "hold" it.
When I had my little Honda 4514 I was able to add a tach. So once I knew the ground speed and yield at a certain RPM I could simply use that info to maintain my speed by maintaining my RPM.
So I guess at the very least maybe someone could point me to how to add a tach? Or I guess I could use a GPS based speedometer?

I looked at online parts...nothing obvious about 'cruise control'...
unknown if alternator has a 'tach output' signal (which most alternators will have if diesel engines )

Yeah, they're not cheap.

Post a pic of the back of your alternator. Maybe someone can spot a tach signal terminal.

Hey, will do. I may have it out today and will shoot a photo. I gotta say that cheap little tach I put on my little Honda tractor was awfully handy. When I used my sprayer, I simply set the engine speed to 2200, engaged the hydro to full "mow" speed and turned on the switch. All I had to do was maintain the 2200 RPM

Not sure this will help or not, but on my B2910 all cruise control does is hold the direction of pedal in a certain position. I don’t think it maintains speed at all when slopes are encountered. So I never use it and give it a big thumbs down. (n) No comparison to cruise control in my road vehicles.

Depending on the alternator ,it's usually easy to add a 'sense wire' to get the signal that can go to any 'normal' tach or make your own for $20, just need to see the internal wiring. Delco alts were dead simple...
The 'tinytach' is pricey but it'll work. They use a PIC microcomputer($.50) and a handful of parts, maybe $20 so you're paying for an 'out of the box it works' solution.

So I am in the dark on that. Do you have to break the alternator open? Where does the wire get put? What constitutes "normal" tach? I.E. one made to run from the spark signal on a gas engine?
