First off, is there any real operating necessity to this style of exhaust cap? Would it make any difference to the engine to replace it with a flap-style?

Second, is this four-bolt style standard for all Kubotas in dimensions? I'm looking to replace it entirely, and I'm wondering if I can get one that'll match, if it's from a different B-model Kubota. Or even an L-model.

(Yes, I know the hood/grill is beat to shit. That's a different issue, from nearly thirty years of snow clearing).

Thanks.

That has got to be the oddest looking top cap that I've ever seen!
Yes either curved pipe or flapper.

No need for the contraption you have on the end of the exhaust pipe. see more comments below.
The Messicks' parts illustration shows the same muffler fitting all models of B2150 + B9200.

Besides the muffler there is a short pipe with a slashed style tip that you would have to buy.

It is common for tractors to not have anything on the end of the exhaust pipe but rely on the end of the pipe not being vertical.
