After reading on this forum about cordless grease guns I looked into them. Since I have a lot of Ryobi tools already it was a no brainer to get the Ryobi cordless grease gun. I cannot stand having so many different batteries and not having any charged! So since my wife has household tools/vacuums there is always a Ryobi battery charged... :-D
I would agree with everyone else with regard to getting the tool that uses the same batteries you already have.

Hello Guys.
I'm new to the site, recently buying a B7100D with a loader.
I couldn't resist after reading the previous submissions, to let you all know how you can tell how much grease is left in the tube. At any time, you simply pull back on the plunger handle. The distance it comes back easily without resistance, is exactly how much grease is left in the tube. If it doesn't come back easily, you're empty.
Also, regarding types of grease guns...I do this as part of my job as a Lubrication/Vibration Specialist, and the brand we've had the best luck with is the Lincoln cordless. Very reliable unit, and batteries can take the abuse of an industrial setting.

I wonder if the clear polycarbonate barrels will fit a cordless gun. I switched all my lever guns to clear barrels a year ago. You can tell in an instant how much lubricant is left in the cylinder, if you bulk load like I do. Cartridge grease is another story but I don't use it.

Well, that idea has been shifted to the back burner. On somebody else's stove.

Vehicle issues mentioned above went WAAAAAY over initial estimate. $450 has become at least $1000 and we may not be done yet.

Sigh. Murphy is a dick.

Bummer, but at least once you get some money burning a hole in your pocket, you have an idea of something you may enjoy.
