Folks,

New member here. In the process of comparing a bx to JD. Looking to see your opinions good or bad. I have no brand loyalty and am looking for personal opinions. Thanks in advance.

Welcome, saxambc2. Hopefully, you buy orange, and become a valued member here.
I am partial to orange, but I can appreciate another tractor brand if it deserves it. Both are good tractors, and both have different qualities. You need to sit on them and operate them- that may decide it for you.
If not, then, in order of importance to me, the dealership and the price would determine which one to get. Both are high quality- I can't say that I would have any worries owning either one. I would be concerned about a lackluster dealership, and a huge price difference.

Features I really like on the John Deere 1026R are the position control three point hitch and HST oil cooler as opposed to the BX and John Deere 2305. The FEL removal is a little quicker on the JD, but not enough for me to be important. I like the concept of the quick connect MMM on the John Deere, but I have no real world experience with it and it is too early to tell about the long term reliability.

I like the BX ground clearance with MMM over the JD 1026R.

There are intangibles to consider, I was prepared to and expected to LOVE the 1026R, but when my wife and I went to look at one we didn't care for it, one of those things that will vary from one to the next, one will like the BX and another the JD, sometimes, you just can't explain it. The only way to tell is to just go look at and drive them, I am sure they are both good machines.

Thanks hodge,
I agree a good dealership is important in the buying process. The reason I'm comparing these 2 manufacturers is they are the 2 that are the closest to my residence.

Anyway, thanks for the reply.

Tripler,

Yeah, that seems to be the majority of the conversations I've had. They are comparable machines. There are those that are staunch supporters of both manu. I am not one. Just a guy looking to make an informed and intelligent purchase.

Thanks for your reply.

With so many good tractor models made by different manufacturers, it really doesn't make much sense to me to be color blind. I own mostly orange, but know other makers produce good tractors as well. There are some Kubota models for which I don't care, some I do and the same goes for green, red etc.

I wholeheartedly agree. There are a lot of good tractors out there. For me, the two oldest/biggest dealers locally are Kubota and JD. I have a fantastic relationship with my Kubota dealer, largely because they are a sponsor for a youth group golf tournament we do each year as a fundraiser. I am sure that I could develop a great relationship with the JD dealership, if it were to be.
