Can I step on the deck to get on/off?

Question from a guy with a messed-up knee. I have a BX2370 with the 60" MMM. It's a real stretch to get on and off the tractor without stepping on the deck. Doesn't help to have really short legs, either...!

So am I going to wreck the mower by stepping on it?

Thanks in advance for the advice.

I am sure you can't hurt anything stepping on the deck. You may hurt something tring to step over it - like your knee lol

I don't think you are supposed to, but I've been doing it for eleven years without any problems, can't get on it otherwise.

To remove your deck don't you drive the tractor over it? Just don't step anywhere the belts and pulleys are...

On the metal part only, stay off the plastic cover. Unless you tip the scales way up there, I am sure it will be fine.

My friend Im 6'3 and well over 250, with bad knees too,, and yes with the deck down you can step on it,, JUST NOT ON THE BLACK PALSTIC PARTS .. you know the ones that say NO STEP,,, but as long as you are on the steel parts no worries and its really hasn't bothered mine weather the deck was up or down I will however mention that the deck will get slick if its wet or your shoes are wet so just keel that in mind,, I put a strip of that sticky tape like they use on stair way treads with the heavy grit stuck to it,,, works OK;)

A mower deck and its supports need to be pretty rugged and wouldn't last long if the mere weight of someone stepping on it would bend anything.

Thanks! Much appreciate you folks helping a new guy out.

I'll just ease off it and plant myself slowly next to the tractor. Only thing that drives me nuts is the 'bibbies' catching on the PTO knob and killing the engine...
