My new BX2370 has a whining noise from the hydraulics that can easily be heard at the back of the tractor when rpm is 2000+ with no hyd load.

Once the rpm is dropped the noise goes away.

At first, I though the rear PTO was spinning but its not (I have selector in mid-PTO only mode for MMM).

Is this normal?
Do you BX owners hear your hydraulic pump when running higher rpm?

the HST whine is very pronounced - it is simply the fluid being pushed though the system under high pressure......

there is one way to lesson the whine!!!

NEXT - hydraulic fluid change - switch to S-UDT2 ........it will cost you a bit, but your tractor and ears will love it !:)

What hokie said, the 50,60 and 70 series of the BX all have that whine and its a PIA until you get use to it. And yes, I wear muffs when Im mowing for along periods of time. And YES the switch to S-UDT2 helped a bunch!! One of the reasons, and I am surmising here, is that the pump and stuff is really close to the ROPS, and it acts like a tuning fork and amplifies the sound of the pump and being that your head is right there its loud. I maybe all wet with that thought, but it makes sense to me. And yeah they all do it some a little more than others but its normal

Thanks for the feedback.
At least I know now that its normal. I may just switch over to the S-UDT2 at 50hr mark - just for the peace of mind.

Went into the dealer today and asked lots of questions as I'm a newbie and they have been quite helpful and knowledgeable.

One question I brought up today was 'when would it be ok to switch to S-UDT?'
An older gentleman from the parts dept. chimed in and said 'the tractors of the past 6-7 years have been coming with S-UDT.'
I gave him a very puzzled look and said that isn't what my research has brought me to believe.

He was adamant.
Could this be true and if so, could it be that an early 1st change out of the "break-in" transmission fluid is the reason for the quieter whine people here have spoken about?

Or, am I missing something about S-UDT and S-UDT2?

Thanks

careful where you still your letters!;) THere is Kubota UDT and then there is a S-UDT and a SUPER UDT 2 ......the first is good ol' stuff, slick as eel shyte.....the newest stuff, the mo' better stuff is SUPER UDT 2 , which is a synthetic version of the the stuff.....

much better pour in colder climates, and as others have said, little less noisy in the HST whiners!;)

read up .....

https://www.kubota.com/part/Lubricants.aspx

I am not sure that new stuff comes from factory with the S version.......

I would not trust what the dealer said......till he showed me the empty bottle that he just poured in.....of S-UDT2

Thanks for the link to the read and the clarification.
I should have known, talking about fluids, nothing is cut and dry.
I assumed there was just UDT and then there was the synthetic S-UDT.

I see now Super S-UDT2 is the good stuff

I come here to learn and I'm never dissappointed

It looks to me like the "S-UDT2" and the "Super-UDT2" are the same thing.
