BX2230 weird issues

Hey everyone, I'm new to the Kubota world and just bought a bx2230 from auction this summer. Had to rebuild the engine and just got it in the tractor and running. Having a couple issues and wondering if anyone might have some insight.

1.) When attempting to start the tractor, the shut off solenoid doesn't always release and I have to do it manually. It operates better for shutoff, but not 100% of the time.

2.) When moving the tractor in high gear, there is this clicking type feeling, like a shudder. Does it in forward and reverse, but once it passes a walk pace, it stops and drives great! If you release the forward petal, it comes the a shuttering stop with the same clicking feel though. I found the brakes were adjusted tighter than a banjo string and backed them off. It is easily pushed in neutral now, but still does the operating issue.

I'm wondering if maybe the brakes became hung up internally somehow from the misadjusted, or if there is another check I can do. Pto and 3pt seem to work great. 4wd goes into gear too, but haven't put it on 4 stands to verify powered front axle movement. The driveshaft spins in 2&4wd as far as I know.

3.) Someone hacked some wires and weird connectors to a 30 amp mega blade fuse right by the starter. I'm assuming Kubota has their own ignition fuse for here? Or is there a replacement I can get for it? The female connector with blades in it is still intact.

Any and all help would be great as I'm hoping to make this my little farm tractor. Thank you!

If the fuse receptacle is still there, it sounds like someone wired the fuse out of the system. I don't know why but they do blow occasionally for seemingly no reason. I had that happen yesterday on an L-45. the question is, why did they do that. Was it blowing fuses enough be a problem? If so you will have to find out why they were blowing, otherwise you could burn something up. Up to and including the whole tractor. If there are other wires scabbed into that wire, they likely used it as a power source for other applications.

As for the clicking/shuttering, that could indeed be a brake problem in that they were adjusted so tightly as to hold the tractor. Before you get into that, check the tightness of your front and rear wheel lugs. A loose wheel will do exactly that. Hopefully thats all it is.

If the fuel shut off solenoid works intermittently, check for rusted of corroded wiring. You may just have a bad connection. Of course they, like everything, do go bad. If so. thankfully they aren't really expensive. All this is pretty simplistic but some true Kubota miracle workers wili weigh in soon

Nothing was scanned in, and the just wired a 30 amp car fuse with two shorts leads and stuck that into the connector. Just hoping they couldn't find the correct replacement fuse at the time. I need to find a part number as see if I can't get one. I think I also need to change out the fuel filters, who knows how old they are or when they were last changed. Looks like there are three, a plastic one before the injectors. pump, a steel one bolted to the under Carri, and a plastic one between that one and the tank. Seems like that one should be a strainer at the most, not an actual pleated filter.

The steel filter is actually the fuel pump. Ck to see if there is a wire going to it.

Thanks, I saw that last night while looking for the filter part numbers. Does anyone have numbers for the pressure i should be seeing from the pump? Might as well test it while I'm in there. I'll check lug nuts today, hope I can figure this transmission feeling out with your help.

Pump is supposed to be in the range of 3 to 6 psi. Mine seemed to be only 3 so pm took it out, twice (one at a time of course). Got a replacement via e bay out of Hong Kong gives 6 psi (but maybe not now cuz I am having a shut off problem at lower fuel levels in tank). The replacement gave 6 psi, HEP-02A. Factory pumps cost $150, the replacements run about 18 bucks, but maybe not the quality needed, if my current problems are that cheaper pump. The design looks a little different. They are a pretty simple thing with a piston that goes back and forth.
