I have a BX22 bought new in July of 2002. A little over a year ago when replacing the power steering hoses I noticed the water pump was weeping a little
so I ordered a replacement pump from Messicks. Two weeks ago the BX started leaking engine oil out the front crank seal so I ordered the parts and pulled
the engine. Replaced the seal, put a new thermostat in it and went to swap the water pump and it doesn't fit. The impeller on the new pump is about 3/8" or 10 mm larger than the old pump. Comparing the gaskets I believe the bolt pattern is slightly different too. I called Messicks and the parts guy was going to look into it and call me back. Three business days later I called them because I hadn't heard anything. I'm quite sure he hadn't "looked into it" at all. Anyway there is only one part number for the pump and that is the pump I got that doesn't fit. Can't return because of how long ago it was sold. Maybe I could rob the seal out of the new pump and put it in the old one so it isn't a total loss. I had to put it back together with the old pump as I needed the tractor before I had any word back from Messicks. Has anyone else run into this problem?

STRANGE! I typed the following and then looked up above at the quote, and includes the the information I was asking about! But on my iPad, it didn’t show up. Just a line that says "No code has to be inserted here" is there.

Guess you already answered my question…thanks!

=======

I have a BX2200, which is essentially the same tractor as the BX22, so that is good to know for future reference.

Do you happen to have the numbers of the two water pumps or a link where I could see if I could find the information myself?

My serial number is 50941. The part number I have is 16251-73037. That part number replaced part number 16251-73034. He had no idea why the part number changed.

I'm sure Kubota realized early on that the cooling system was too small. Mowing on a hot day when grass and weeds are going to seed I would have to stop multiple times to clear the screen. Sometimes I would even have to blow the radiator out to keep it cool enough. I mow with a zero turn now.

The old pump has 08511 casted into the body of the pump. It also has a 3 under the manufacturer logo (BTK). The new pump has AF14 cast into it on the neck and a letter B under the logo. The new pump casting has 2 bosses cast for the bypass with only one drilled and tapped. The old pump only has one boss.

Not to disagree, but when I looked them up, the bx22 shows one pump, and the bx2200 shows two, 1625173032 for serial numbers, < = 1U7903 and 1625173034 for serial numbers = > 1W001. So ???

I HATE 'very light grey' as a colour, grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
went back to kubcda and there's 7 or 8 listings for 'bx22', HALF of which are mower decks.. the 3rd one down is BX22D, first two have 00 after the BX22
so my original post was wrong and the pictures for a 2200 NOT just a 22

I'd love to change the dang light grey into BLACK, so that my 70 year old eyes could SEE what's on the screen ! I and 1, 0 and O , , and . are other 'fun' things to try to figure out.....

Well my engine s/n is U7031 so IF the 22 was the same as 2200 I would need the 161625173034 but that number was lined through on Messicks part page.

None of that means anything.

You have the wrong pump!
You need:
Pump: 16251-73032
Gasket: 16251-73430

Curious as to what the real full model number says on the ID plate?
A lot of people think they have a BX22 when in reality they have a BX2200.
The hood's or logo's were swapped during production.

There also was some Quirks to the BX22's and BX2200's!
If I remember right they ran out of the original engines during production and had to swap to different engines.

If you notice your serial number falls in the first pump and not the second pump.
And if you see the NI (in RED circle) that means the two do not cross over.
