I read a post about someone deciding between a B2301 and a B2601, and I wasn't familiar with those models, so I went to Kubota to look them up.

Comparing the BX2670 to the B2601 (similar when comparing BX2370 to B2301), and there doesn't seem to be a lot of difference.
Mainly:
  • BX2670 is 2-range HST. 4WD standard
  • B2601 has 3-forward ranges. 4WD optional
  • Looks like B may have bigger rear tires (11.2-16 versus BX's 26x12-12).
  • BX hyd pump is 6.2 gpm
  • B hyd pump is 8.2 gpm
  • both have MMM and FEL options.
Is that the main differences? So the "B" is slightly more "heavy duty" than the BX in the same engine/PTO HP size?

B is 200 lbs heavier, weight is critical to traction and many other things. the 2 GPM difference is significant.
B is 5 inches wider....stability difference.
B has 1400 3 point lift capacity BX has 680 lbs. <--major
B is 4 mph faster than BX
****B has 200 more lbs lift capacity per specs.****
the advantages for the B are significant. I'm guessing the B can lift far more on the front end loader.

Thanks for the info.

One point of clarification, on the 3-point lifting capability, per the OP manual the BX2670 (all the BXs) can lift 1210 lbs at "Wo" (the Lower Link End). Although still not as much as the B.

So the BX is the "little brother" to the B series.

Mike,

what is the quoted price between the two?

I have a BX, love it - but if I could do again.....and had the $$$$ I would look at the B -----big time BIL has a B2920.....rather nice machine, but at the cost, it was about 6k more at the time......

I looked at the B and BX and chose the BX over the B for the lower center of gravity. Of course this tractor will be a dedicated mower with a minimum amount of 3 point work.

I looked into the same and went with a BX25D, it is a real tractor & with any hills it is more stable. Here is a 22" stump I pulled out with the BH.

I didn't get a Dealer quote - I already bought my BX. I was just looking.

But - from the "Kubota Built Your Own" site;

BX2670 (25.5HP/19.5PTO) 4wd HST is $18,510
with FEL (48" bucket and valve included)
with 60" MMM

and the

B2601 (25.5HP/19.5PTO) 4wd HST is $22,639
with FEL (54" bucket) and valve
60" MMM
rear ballast box

For reference, this time last year I bought a BX2670-1. I ended up paying $16,0xx out the door with tax (7.5%) for a BX2670-1 with FEL, box blade, and 60" mmm. The dealers have room to negotiate beyond the online price if they want to sell a tractor.
