Greetings,
Been lurking since 2014 did a search cant find specific bx 1870 instructions for Fuel Filter replacing and bleeding if required.
Dealer did the 2nd filter at 50 hrs here under warranty agreement for other problems.
I didnt see the tech do it at 50 hours.
Now close to 500 hours.
Decks ready to be put back on for the season and b4 I do it I want to replace any thing up under there. Hydraulic and fuel filters, oil too.

I notice the protector plate for the HST Fan and looks like it needs to be dropped.Rest looks pretty clear and will need to pinch inlet to the filter to stop the flow.

Will I need to bleed the lines after I replace both filters?
Is there a bleader valve for all 3 injectors or do I need to do them individually or at all?

Any guidance and or OTT links or to you tube would help.
Found a link to youtube years ago but lost it.
Getting old and only want to go under there 1 time

Thanks in advance for any tips and input

You won't have to bleed anything, give the electric fuel pump 30 second or so with the key on, then start it normally.
No that is incorrect. What do you thing the electric pump is doing to eliminate the air in the lines? Answer is, nothing. You need to open up a place for that pump to push the air out of the system.

He will need to bleed it and it's a very simple process. Crack the bleed valve on the pump and then turn the key to the on position but don't start it. When the fuel runs without air bubbles close the valve and you can fire it up.

Not saying my way is better or worse, but I always pinch off the fuel line on each side of one filter, change it, release the clamps, start the engine and run for minute, then shut the engine off and repeat for the second filter. Never had any issues doing it that way.

It's quicker and easier (but a little messier) to replace both filters, with the line pinched off before the rear filter, and then just loosen the bleeder screw with the key on.

I just did the rear fuel filter relocation and I did not need to "bleed" anything.
It's a real pain to get at the rear filter so I didn't want to ever have to do it again from underneath. This relocation kit will make all future changes a snap. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Kubota-BX-F...24-BX25D-w-loader-FEL-L240-L243-/252761384320
I'm not promoting this guy's kit (you can just buy the parts individually yourself), but I think it is worth the time and effort to do the relocation.

Only drawback is, now the filter is somewhat exposed. I plan to add a "shield" around it.

I am looking at doing a remote filter project myself, but of course I will be sourcing my own parts. Does anyone know the filter micron rating Kubota recommends for these engines?

On what filter to get do what Country Bumkin shows. Works fine.
Fine, but I don't see any specs for that fuel filter, and I'm not paying that kind of price for one. I can get a filter base for under $25, it's just a matter of what filter I put on it. According to Donaldson Filters, their replacement for the stock filter shows a 40 micron rating. Seems a little loose to me, but if that's the spec, so be it.

DB,

that micron rating does seem a little loose - wonder what the kubota STOCK filters are rated? Both are identical, both cost way too much from Kubota, and I bet both do not approach 40 microns!!!! I am just guessing on this, but I bet anything a couple of notches up should filter better than those two over grown lawn mower filters!:D:)

I've replaced the fuel filters on my 2230 (very similar to the 1870) twice and had no problems with air in the lines preventing restarting.

I do let the fuel fill up the filters before putting the outlet hose on and the let the electric pump run for 30 seconds as factory maintenance manual recommends.
