Starting a new thread here.

So i am getting a good deal on a B2650 with a closed cab. Front loader, backhoe, and grapple.

My question is do i also need back weights for my tires or will the backhoe wieght be enough? I believe the backhoe weighs 850 pounds.

I will be doing loader, grapple, and snow removal work. Also a bunch of backhoe stuff.

I would get them filled, when I load my bucket to max weight capacity even with my filled tires it's very light on the rear end.

I didn’t have a chance to find the manual for the backhoe this morning, but if I recall correctly it stated to not filled the tires. You likely have plenty of weight with the cab and the backhoe on it.

Interesting. Why would it say to not fill them?

I believe its the added stress to the stabilizers. I will find the manual tonight when I get home and check. There was also a thread on here somewhere about it too.

Oh and congrats BTW :D

With a BH, you do not need rear wheel weights, nor do you want them. Besides, I do not believe that rear weights are offered for the 2650/3350.

Unless you plan to do FEL work without the BH installed, I would not load the tires either. There are disadvantages to loaded tires aside from cost. I MUCH prefer a ballast box.

On the M62 I have mine filled, no issues. The stabilizers area really beefy though... The manual is kinda iffy about it. The dealer had no issues filling them and said it would not void warranty. Take with a grain of salt!

Small machine with a cab can be a bit top heavy. Are you on many hills and such? Might want to get the tires spaced if that is an option.

I've got a BH77 backhoe, and fel on my B2650, and for maximum lift on the loader when the bypass valve engages (approx 1100 lbs or 500kg as rated), there's no problem with stability. The rear wheels remain in firm contact with the ground. I have no other ballast on the tractor or in the tires. It would be a waste imo.
And as well, I can front end loader raise a full 500kg safely with the backhoe removed and replaced with my box scraper only. The scraper's about 500lb and hanging off the 3 point, and it's all I need for ballast for full loader capacity.
The BH77 weighs at least twice the box scraper. PLENTY of ballast without tires filled.

Btw congrats, as long as the previous owner maintained it well, you'll love this machine. It's a surprisingly gutsy and capable machine.

This is from the manual for the BH77. Doesn’t elaborate on why not to have loaded rear tires. And I still haven’t found the thread from a little while back

As others have said, I've never felt the back end was light at all with the backhoe installed, no matter what I've had up front.

I've never used my FEL without the backhoe attached, but if I did I'd rather have a ballast box or some rear implement than filled or weighted rear wheels.

I would fill the rear tires for sure. You wont always have the backhoe installed, and even with it installed more weight will keep the tractor from moving around when operating the backhoe.

Your signature says you have a B2650 with BH77 backhoe. Do you have filled tires? Did you note that warning posted above that says you shouldn't use filled tires with the backhoe?

When I was looking for my B2650 with a BH77 and still shopping dealers. Only one dealer actually knew that you should not load tires if you have the BH77. He happened to be the 3rd dealer I had visited and the first two had included the tire ballast in the price. So not too many people have read that section. The dealer that did know, which is where I bought my tractor, told me that the ballast with the BH77 and the loads from excavation would exceed the rated loads on the rear end and possibly cause damage. He said many people still fill them but they could be causing premature wear and possible damage to the tractor.

Yes, my rear tires are filled from the dealer. I only have about 50hrs on the machine so I can't speak to long term wear, but I have had no problems. The tractor is super light so a little more weight helps keep it from moving around using the BH77.
