Hi,
I have a new Land Pride Brush cutter for my BX and the rear wheel is not turning as it should. It digs into the ground every time I turn. Is the issue related to how low the wheel is set? I have wheel set to the second lowest level. Thanks folks!

The very first thing to check is that the pivot and the tire/wheel axle are adequately greased and have free movement.

I'll second what Ken said - grease makes it turn well.

How is your top link set? You should be about a 1/4" low on the front edge - or a 1/4" high on the rear when sitting on level ground.

Cannot tell from photo but your symptom is nearly always caused by insufficient caster, which is itself caused by backing the wheel into an immovable object bending the tailwheel fork and/or spindle. If you did not do this, it was probably done at the dealer, and, no, you will not be able to prove it.

All good advice. Check for grease. Make sure the spindle isn’t bent (mine was when I took it over so a little work with an anvil and sledge was needed) and the pipe it’s in on the deck isn’t crushed causing binding. It should spin freely when lifted off the ground. If it doesn’t spin freely it will never work right.

And it shouldn’t be straight up/down; should be straight side to side but lean back straight away from the deck.

Some cutters have very sharp corners on new wheels.

We use a 3pt finish mower on B26. High failure rate on spindles of the caster wheels. Short wheelbase, 4wd and sharp turning capability contributes the problem. Turning more gently will help.

Your quick hitch extends the mower back causes more mower swing in turns.

Make sure mower is set up properly. As the mower wheel wears should help. Big mower for that size tractor. A bent spindle will cause drag.
