Please help an absolute newbie. Bought a B20--all seemed fine at sellers--got it home, barely got it off the street after backing off the trailer. Engine binds to point of choking when moving forward (w/in 20') at anything above a crawl.
Parking brake-not engaged
Positraction-not engaged
4WD-not engaged
Speed range-occurs in all 3 ranges
FEL and backhoe work fine.
Stupid newbie omission?
Did I buy an instant repair bill?

The B20 is HST/hydro (I believe it only came that way).

Each test run was at 2K rpm.

Hobbs says 432, it looks like it's rolled once, so really 1432. I'd expect the entire tractor to be more beat up if there were another K yet. The word was that it's never been a rental.

The feeling is akin to grabbing on and strangling my cordless drill, though on a compact tractor scale.

Have you called the PO and just simply asked him about what's going on?
I agree. Perhaps you should assure him that you aren't asking for a warranty or to hold him responsible (assuming that you bought as-is), but that you have an operation issue, and would like him to show you what you are doing wrong. His response may clue you in- if he is readily willing, it probably isn't a functional problem, or one that he was previously aware of. Hopefully it is just the way you are operating it.
Keep us posted, and welcome to OTT!
