Hi all,
Hope all is well.

I'm new to this forum. I just purchased a second hand L2850 34hp 4wd model, with a front end loader. Everything seemed to check out OK when I purchased it, bucket operated correctly, hydraulics seemed good(loader lifted front wheels off the ground) PTO seemed to work and stop as it should, oil level was well within range and gears shift good.

The only faults were that the gauges aren't existent - for whatever reason, I would like to put an oil pressure gauge? how would I go about doing that? Also tractor seemed a little smoky when idling - white smoke then cleared when using the tractor is this normal?

Cheers

You did not mention the amount of hours on the ol girl - but I am guessing that the hours are above 1000? If so, smoking - while cold is quite normal, once heated the rings and cylinders will cause the smoke to dissipate.

What type of fuel are you using?

As for adding the oil pressure gauge, look on the side of the engine, typically low and you will see a "sending" unit with a wire hanging out the back of it. You will replace that OR add a "T" fitting to use both the light and the gauge.

Here is an old post :

this is on a B7100 - so yours will be similar but slightly different depending on the location of the sending unit.

Not sure where you "shop" for engine stuff - but here in the states the typical kit is about $25 or so. The fittings can be a PITA however.

Thanks for your reply,

As I said above, the gauges weren't there, I'd assume by the wear on the tyres 3000-4000 hours.
Is there anything I should look out for on these tractors?
