Hi all

Using my BH today to dig a trench and noticed quite a lot of creaking coming from the joints as I bring the booms closer to "home" position. At least I think it coming from the joints. BX25D has only 10 hours on it so far and I checked all the grease fittings and such. Everything looks good as far as I can tell.

Something to be concerned about, or just normal operating sounds?

Thanks

Extend your bucket out and rest on the ground and grease all fittings well. Pull the bucket back in and give it a little more grease. If it's squeaking, it needs grease.

So I greased all the fittings today, and everything is right with the world again. Weird though. Yesterday was the second time I've used the BH. I guess they didn't put enough grease in from the dealer?

A few shots of grease now will be the difference between a worn out sloppy BH or one thats in good shape years down the road. If you use it, grease it. If it squeaks while in use stop and grease it. If you hear it squeak you're hearing it wear.

Oranje,

No, you just used it. Doesn't matter how many times as much as how long. At least every 10 hrs, grease her up!! She will out live you if you do!!

Original poster mentions machine being relatively new from dealer. Also mentions in post a 'creaking' sound.

So here's another possibility: not only check and grease EVERY zerk on the machine but ALSO check backhoe and loader frame mounting bolts. The correct answer is to torque to spec. The actual practice is to use a break-over and cheater and get all bolts doggone tight.

Our loader started creaking as described. Found more than half the frame mounting bolts half-a-wrap loose. Now recheck frequently and occasionally find one a little bit loose. One kept working loose (tolerances during machining?) and I chose to go back with blue lok-tite.

Caution removing bolts. Be certain everything is supported and be prepared to push-pull-tug-jack to get holes to realign. Don't start a bolt back into a hole that isn't lined up correctly.

Please post back your continuing experiences so we may all learn.

so.....in greasing the ol girl - how many ZERKS have ya found???? There are OVER 2 dozen zerks...... I did a count a while back......I think I came up with 27 ish........hoe has a lot , bucket has a lot too! Dont forget the one on the rocker pedal, pull back the rubber mat cover to find it.

It takes me a good bit of time to grease all of them, bought that adapter to go on the grease gun, made it a hellva lot easier too, well worth the money!
