Hello all,
After 9 years and now a few cold days I think it might be time for a new battery in my L 3400. Specs say 12 v RC 123 min. CCA 490A. Service Dept. Vic battery video said 880-1000CCA. Happy to get 9 years from the 1st battery.

Any advice, recommendations or reviews on a new battery?

Thanks,

Russ

go to consumerreport.com ( maybe not be the exact wording). They do battery tests and recommendations. If I remember correctly, Auto Zone had on of the top rated batteries right now.

I've always been fond of Interstate batteries. No particular reason but they seem a little heavier duty than some of the auto store stuff. Also I watch them fill it with acid and charge it so I know it hasn't been sitting around for 2 years degrading. More battery is always better as long as it's 12V and fits in your tray ok. Just remember to make sure the positive and negative lugs are on the same sides as the original, they cables usually won't cross.

Well if you did get 9 years out of your batt then go with what you know has already been working an get another identical battery to what you have now.

Its just a battery I guess but for an extra few bucks I would rather have it start when its cold- I sell Decka's and don't get me wrong they are a good battery.. But when mine goes to hell I will buy a Factory battery. You can buy a cheapo for prob 20-25 bucks less I guess... Or have it start for another 9 years... every time. I work in a garage and see it every day, esp in Maine where it is cold this time of year. The Deckas are good, they go around 6 years here. But a factory battery goes 9-11years.... something to think on...

I know you can get a bad battery no matter what brand you buy. I'll have to say that I got the best service from the Kubota battery in my L3000 than anything I ever owned. It does get used about every day and I'm sure that helped but reguardless I got 11 yrs of faithfull service from the factory battery.
