My low hours B2601 would not start after running fine.
A quick look around found a broken battery terminal.
The battery terminal was broken by a too tight cable! WTF?
This is the factory cable and it's not long enough to hook a new terminal to.
I don't see the factory being able to put the cable on the battery - something must have pulled the cable too tight
Got any ideas?

Installing replacement ends on cables usually means in a couple of years you will be back with intermittent electrical problems.

I will have to wait until Tuesday to get a Kubota cable.
Will an aftermarket do the trick?

How can I splice a cable extension on so I can start and move tractor to a concrete area ?
(away from fire ants!)

If it were me I would just take jumper cables and use one lead from ground terminal on battery to the frame ground to get it moved to a better spot in a pinch 🤷‍♂️

It is the hot terminal.
Don't want to close the hood with a jumper cable on the hot! Fires are expensive!

I guess I can start it and remove the Jumper cable?
Will I be able to turn it off without power?

I wouldn’t run it with the battery disconnected as it might fry the alternator.

Just jump start it and get it to a better spot. A jump pack would work if you have one.

Wouldn’t suggest same for a computerized machine.

I can't stand those replacement ends. Either crimp on terminal with heat shrink or replace the cable.

Those clamp on ends mean service calls for me. Within a month or two of being installed.

Either get a new cable or take a good look at that battery. IF the ground cable appears longer than necessary and the Positive cable too short....then there is a good possibility the battery is one with the 'posts' reversed.

Battery can be in the correct position but the posts swapped. The post configuration for any battery size/group is generally offered both ways.

You do not have to close the hood to move the tractor.

properly designed alternator will not 'fry' if you remove the battery...
but you can unplug it... it's then a very, very expensive 'pulley'
Are you gonna warranty that? (your suggestion to unplug or disconnect it is a good one)

GH, YES, no problem, will warranty that with my BX23S.....

'PROPERLY designed and built' alternator. It ain't 'rocket science', made them in the 70's. Took Delco 10SI units, gutted, installed MY electronic regulators, never had any of them fail, on the bench or in service. Units were part of a remote windmill power system..long ,long time ago.... before 'green energy' was popular.
