Hello all,

Since the tires are filled with RimGuard on my new Kubota B2620 I elected to use a little bit of the space on the top of the weight box as a storage area. After filling about 3/4 of the weight box with 3/4" - 1" stone I made a custom fitting deck to lay tools, a lunch box, cooler or anything else requiring storage space. I used a couple D-rings for easy removal since the 4 sides are slightly tapered and the top is sure to get wedged in there. Simple and easy made from some left over 2x6 redwood stock I had kicking around.

This project certainly isn't rocket science but I figured I'd throw up a few pics anyhow :):):).

Thanks...Burgie

It looks great, but arr-ugh there is no such thing as "left over redwood stock". What do you do that you have left over redwood stock? You must have a neighboring woodworker who would have built you an oak bookcase for your redwood.:(;)

Dumb question for you .....
how is the wood "nailed" down ? Crossmember laying on the stone?

Super nice !

Thanks all for the nice words...

So I do quite a few things and woodworking is one of them. When at a local Lowes I noticed a rather handsome stack of 24 2x6x16's on the cull pile. Most were nearly perfect sans a very slight crook. Original cost was like $450 marked down to $150. It was late and cold and snowing lightly and I asked the gal if they would take $100. She called the store manager and I loaded onto the steel racks on my F-350.:D:D:D

I used the wood to make heavy duty rolling platforms for my RTR1250 tiller, 54" box scraper and weight box...and have 20+ boards left over for other projects such as this.

This is simply 3 boards clamped together and then on the back side I used 1/4" x 3" wide plywood strips as screw cleats; no glue at all. :):)

...and yes, it just lays in the weight box; I didn't want anything permanent.

Nice workmanship, and I love the dual use flexibility of it!
